Social Media Optimization (SMO) is a set of techniques for generating publicity, brand awareness, traffic on the site through social media, online communities and community websites. Techniques of SMO include adding social media buttons, RSS feeds, Digg This button, blogging, and incorporating third party community functionalities like YouTube videos, Flickr photo slides and galleries. Social media optimization (SMO) is a form of search engine marketing (SEM).
